Beat the Backlist 2020

This reading challenge is dedicated to helping you knock those backlist books off your ever-growing to-read list.

This will be my second year participating, and I am looking forward to it! Last year I ended up deviating from my list about halfway through the year (soooo many new releases I wanted to read), so I am going with a slightly less crazy goal this year. That being said, I am still going to list out my entire physical TBR pile so I have to look it in the eye and explain how sorry I am for not reading it all yet. Fortunately I already moved it into the tracking spreadsheet for this year, so I can just copy it over here đŸ™‚

The Rules

  • The book must have been published in 2019 or earlier to count. It can be in any format (including an ARC/eARC) as long as the release date is 2019 or earlier (i.e. 2020 releases are not allowed).
  • You have to start and finish the book in 2020 to count it. Any books started in 2019 and finished in 2020 do not count. Any books started in 2020 and finished in 2021 also do not count.
  • The challenge runs from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020

My Team

I have decided to join Team Re-Readers this year! I am a huge rereader, and I know they will account for a fair amount of the books I read this year, especially since much of my backlist involves unfinished series!

Additional Fun

BtB always gives us lots of fun things to help us meet our goals, including the team challenge, weekly photo challenges, a KICKASS tracker that I use for all of my reading, and BINGO boards!!!

They offer a small board with 24 prompts and a huge one with 80! Last year I did the 80-prompt board and did a pretty good job almost covering it. This year I am going to dial it back a bit and work on the smaller board, since I found that my reading tastes meant that the larger one definitely wasn’t getting finished.

If I finish the small board too easily, perhaps I will work on the larger one too đŸ˜‰ But, for now anyway, I am going to take some pressure off myself to start.

You can find printable versions of these on the Beat the Backlist page!

And there we have it! My 2020 Backlist! No doubt we will add to this like crazy, but that’s fine by me!

Are you participating in any 2020 challenges? If so, feel free to drop a link in the comments below!
