I had a GREAT year for reading, and read so many books that I loved! This will be a three-part recap of all of my FIVE STAR READS! I am only going to list the new-to-me books on this list, since my rereads usually are five star (or why else would I reread them?), so needn’t be rehashed. Let’s take a look at PART ONE of this list!
The Lotus War Trilogy by Jay Kristoff
I sobbed my way through Endsinger and had my heart completely broken. It may be my favorite book of 2019. Check out my series review here (warning: there are spoilers)!
The Field Guide to Dumb Birds of North America by Matt Kracht
I laughed SO HARD while reading this. If you have a bird lover in your life, GET THIS FOR THEM NOW!
When Summer Ends by Jessica Pennington
A lovely little summer YA Contemporary!
Skyward by Brandon Sanderson
I LOVED this book! I am super excited to have it be my first read of 2020, since I am dying to read it again (I don’t let myself read the same book twice in one calendar year)!
The Wicked King by Holly Black
Another example of the sequel being way better than it’s predecessor.
Dark Shores by Danielle Jensen
I can’t wait for the sequel! I have a full review, if you’re interested!
Queen of Air & Darkness by Cassandra Clare
It only took three books to make it so, but I finally see what the Emma-Jules shippers are on about.
There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon
I will be shocked if I ever read a Menon book that I don’t ADORE. Here’s a full review!
Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman
I loved this so much that I broke my cardinal rule and did a second read – although to be fair it was by listening to the AMAZING audiobook, so I feel like it doesn’t count. I need more sexy space elves in my life, thanks! Check out my review here.
Stain by A.G. Howard
This one came out of nowhere to utterly delight me! I also wrote up a full review.
Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte
I’m not sure how this doesn’t have a sequel in the works, because I NEED MORE NOW!
A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
I finished this and immediately pre-ordered the second book.
Crown of Coral and Pearl by Mara Rutherford
Just a wonderful and lovely story! Sequel please!
Finale by Stephanie Garber
Do I own four different editions of this book? Yes, yes I do.
This concludes PART ONE of my Top Five Reads of 2019 List! Stay tuned for PART TWO soon!!!
