I came across this tag over on Ally Writes Things, and she was nice enough to leave it open-ended to anyone could join in! I love me some book tags (what?! me?! No way!) so obviously I need to participate!
The Rules
- Tag & link the person who tagged you.
- Tag and link Jenniely’s original post, for she’d love to read everyone’s answers!
- Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done.
- Tally up how naughty or nice you are!
- Tag another 10 people.
Received an ARC and not reviewed it.
Oh, for sure. I end up on a lot of book tours and such, so I often get books to feature but I can’t possibly read them all!
Have less than 60% feedback rating on NetGalley.
Despite my recent neglect of my NetGalley shelf, I am still sitting at 74%. I have come SO CLOSE to the elusive 80% goal a few times this year, but have yet to achieve it!
Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did).
All the time! I am super bad about doing reviews – getting my thoughts in order is tough and I feel like I can’t just do review posts where I’m like “SO GOOD. MUCH WOW. ALL THE FEELS” all the time.
Folded down the page of a book.
I do this sometimes but ONLY in paperback books. I don’t know why I am cool with it in paperbacks but not hardcovers, but there we have it.
Accidentally spilled on a book.
Only a very small amount! Sometimes I snack while reading and little bits might hit the page. Never anything very noticeable, though.
DNF a book this year.
I don’t keep track of my DNF’s (maybe I should?) but I am pretty sure I had one or two this year. Between being very picky about what I read and also being too stubborn to put a book down, I rarely DNF.
Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it.
Yup. I have definitely done this. Well…I might lie to myself and say that I will get to it someday, but really I just wanted it for the cover. This is a side effect of Bookstagramming, and also running a monthly photo challenge that involves a color week – yellow books are hard to find, ya’ll!!
Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework).
If you say you have never done this, you are a liar.
Skim read a book.
Parts, but never a whole book. If you skim the whole thing, what’s even the point? Just DNF it if it can’t hold your attention.
Completely missed your Goodreads goal.
No. Okay…so Goodreads will say otherwise, but I used to be SO BAD about actually logging my reads. But I know the rate as which I read, so I am confident I have always hit my goals even when I haven’t logged them into the system. Furthermore, in the years since I started becoming obsessive about logging my reads, I have always exceeded my GR goal!
Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library.
So I have never been a library person. Crazy, I know, but I have always loved owning my books.
Broke a book buying ban.
Oh, totally. I am VERY good at justifying purchases to myself.
Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about.
Yes and no? So I definitely have unfinished reviews that will never be finished because the details have faded. But I have yet to start a review and then completely forgotten the book. That being said, I have definitely completely forgotten I’ve read books before, and then Goodreads or Amazon has enlightened me otherwise.
I’m going to count this as a no, since the specific question is about reviews.
Written in a book you were reading.
Of course! Not all the time, but I do have some books that I own copies specifically for the reason of having it to take notes in! My pride and joy is my VERY well loved copy of The Poisonwood Bible, which I have had since the summer of 2003 (pre-reading for my senior-year AP English class). There is scarcely a page that isn’t notated or flagged or both. I still count TPB as my favorite book ever.
Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads.
YEARS ago, perhaps. But definitely not since I actually started tracking my reading. I’m going to call this one a no.
Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend.
I can’t think of the last time I borrowed a book from someone. Again, I am that person who needs to own all the books, and I also don’t like the responsibility of borrowing from someone else.
Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book.
For sure. I have a VERY select group that I will lend books to, and even then I would rather buy them their own copy rather than lend out mine!
Broke the spine of someone else’s book.
No. Again, I don’t borrow books!
Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged.
I don’t think so! Not that I can recall, anyway.
Sat on a book accidentally.
For sure. But never to the point of damaging it.
