This week’s topic: How has reading shaped/changed your life?
Reading hasn’t just shaped my life, it *is* my life! I come from a family of bibliophiles and, as such, cannot remember a time in my life when I didn’t love to read. My dad read us bedtime stories, I learned to read by the time I was 4, and it was not unusual for the whole family settle down with a book after dinner.
My parents never censored what we read, but just made sure we always had a wide variety of books to choose from. Because of this, I grew up as much on LE Modesitt Jr and Nora Roberts as I did Brian Jacques and Bonnie Martin. I always read far above my grade level, which makes it a little ironic that I mostly read YA these days, lol.
As an adult, my life is now shaped far more by my reading habits than ever before. I have a beautiful home library that I fill with books, I am an avid Bookstgrammer, and I obviously have this blog dedicated to all things bookish! Fortunately for me my husband feels about gaming the way I feel about books, because neither of us give the other grief for spending money on our hobby. 😉 It also means he can play his games (both video and tabletop) while I sit contentedly and read!
I am going to wrap this up now because there is a new episode of The Mandalorian out and I need to go watch it. 😉 I’m also running low on creative juices (I blame the turkey hangover and NaNoWriMo) so this might not be my most quippy post ever, lol. In short, books are life and I can’t imagine my life without them!
How have books and reading shaped your life? Tell me in the comments below!
I’m like you: reading is my life as well. I can’t remember never not reading.
