Stacking the Shelves – November 23, 2019

STSsmall

It’s time yet again for the Stacking the Shelves meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality! This meme is all about sharing your most recent bookish purchases, be they physical books, audiobooks, or eBook! Since I have a BIT of a “one-click” problem, I thought this would be a great way to keep track of my newest books AND share them with everyone else! I’m not sure what I’ll talk about on the weeks I don’t have anything new, but we can cross that bridge if we ever come to it! Not an issue this week, so let’s have at it!

*SPOILER ALERT: I did include this month’s OwlCrate exclusive in the post. If you subscribe, haven’t gotten your box yet, and don’t want spoilers, maybe skip this post until after? It’s at the very bottom so hopefully you can back out without seeing it if need be! If you don’t mind getting a sneak peek, keep on scrolling! It’s pretty awesome!

The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black – Regular Edition AND B&N Exclusive

A prime example of my innate need to own ALL THE EDITIONS, I pre-ordered this from Amazon, the order was delayed for some mysterious reason, and so I got it in my head that this was the universe telling me to go to B&N and pick up their exclusive. But the crazy part of this is story is that I don’t even like the series that much – I am not the biggest fan of Holly Black’s writing style – but apparently enough to need two copies. I don’t even know, guys. I do need to say that I was pretty surprised at how short this final book is. I mean, the first two in the series are also pretty short, but I was hoping we’d get a lengthier finale.

Blood Heir by Amélie Wen Zhao

Blood Heir

The book that caused Book-Twitter to lose its ever-loving mind. The amount of controversy around this book was absolutely absurd, so obviously I had to do my part to support the author by buying the book! I also own an eARC of the original incarnation, so I feel like I will one day read that too, and do some sort of comparison. I’m not sure I’ll get to it any time soon, but it’s def going on the TBR cart!

All that aside, I actually love the cover for this one. Whoever did the illustration did a great job, and I kind of get Grisha/Six of Crows vibes from it!

Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen – B&N Flexibound Edition

Sense & Sensibility B&N

It should not come as a shock when I saw that I collect editions of Sense & Sensibility (as well as Pride & Prejudice) and when I saw this gorgeous edition I didn’t even hesitate. Coincidentally, I actually saw this performed on stage last weekend by the theater department at my old High School. I was a drama kid back in the day (…which was a long time ago…) so it brought back some heavy nostalgia to be sitting in my old auditorium watching a play on the same stage I haunted over four years and eight shows. I worked as tech/stage crew, and the version of S&S was done super creatively from a staging standpoint. I probably would have loved doing it in my day, and the whole cast and crew for this was wonderful.

Wow…I deviated just a tad from books. LOL. Moral of the story: this edition is gorgeous and I needed it.

Supernova by Kass Morgan

Supernova Kass Morgan

I read the first book – Light Years – in this series thanks to The NOVL, who sent me an ARC, and completely loved it! And then, in true Megabunny fashion, I totally forgot about the sequel until I was at B&N for TQoN and saw it on the shelf. I know my TBR is like a million books long (who’s isn’t these days, amiright?), but I just might push this closer to the top of my list! If you liked Aurora Rising, you will def want to check out this series – the first book actually predates AR by a half year or so, but the vibe is super similar in all the best ways!

Also, I have to say how much I enjoy the covers for this series! They just really work.

Winterwood by Shea Earnshaw – OwlCrate Edition

Winterwood OC.jpg

This edition is SOOO freaking gorgeous. Exclusive cover, stained pages, and an embossed design under the jacket. It’s like all of my favorite things!!! I LOVED Shea Earnshaw’s first book, The Wicked Deep, and cannot wait to read this one! Shea’s writing is SO atmospheric and it makes my black heart happy!

Despite my inherent need to own every edition of every book ever, I will probably stick with just this one. UNLESS I fall in total love with the book, which is always a strong possibility. *sigh* I swear I don’t have a problem. O_0

So only six new books for my shelf this week!!! Not too excessive 😉
