For today’s Top Ten Tuesday we want talk about our very favorite topic: Harry Potter! This list will feature our Top Ten favorite editions of HPatPS, and will be the first in a series of TTT posts devoted to the HP series. Because we are Potterheads and Proud, we are super excited for this!!! We will sprinkle these in whenever TTT gives us a freebie prompt, or when the assigned prompt just doesn’t resonate, like this week.
As always, thank you to That Artsy Reader Girl for hosting Top Ten Tuesday! If you want to join in on the fun, make sure you check out the link for the full list of prompts!
Now, let’s get to the list!
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Original US Hardcover.
Those of us who grew up here in the US will recognize this iconic cover! For some reason the publishers felt the need to change the title, which was totally unnecessary, but I am glad this was the only book they did that for. I think we all had/have this set! I, myself, have a hardcover edition and 2 paperback copies.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Original UK Edition.
First editions of this original UK cover go for MAD money these days. It’s like the holy grail of HP editions.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Illustrated Edition.
I ADORE the illustrated editions of these books. That cover is so freaking gorgeous, and the interior illustrations are stunning. Quite possibly my favorite cover for the first book.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Signature Edition.
I accidentally stumbled across these signature editions in a hunt for another edition altogether, and immediately tracked down a full set and bought them! They’re so fun and unique, and I love the simplicity of the design and colors.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Adult Edition.
So the hardcover adult editions of HP are definitely my unicorns. I actually have a first edition of Deathly Hallows, which I got right after it released, but it’s pretty much impossible to find the earlier books in hardcover! I am constantly checking my various sources, and someday this will be mine!
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. 15 Year Anniversary Edition.
I actually have this as part of a box set, and the best part is that the spines line up to reveal artwork of Hogwarts Castle! I actually rarely look at the fronts because the spines are so awesome, but this really is a lovely cover!
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. School Market Edition.
So apparently Scholastic released this cover in what was probably the “book fair” order catalogs you could get in grade school! I literally did not know this existed until I started researching for this post, and now I obviously need it in my life. These babies are NOT easy to find, and the prices are high, but one day I will have it. Mark my words.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. eBook/Audiobook Edition.
I actually SUPER love this cover, and wish it was available in actual print form. It’s simple, clean, dynamic, and I want it on my shelf.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. 2014 UK Edition.
Bloomsbury did a whole new set of covers in 2014, and I am actually a big fan of these! They’re super fun and the art is awesome! I do have this edition on my shelf, thanks to my British brother-in-law being the best person ever and texting me when he saw these in a shop on a trip to England.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. 20th Anniversary House Editions.
This was GENIUS marketing on the part of Bloomsbury. Not only are these editions SO stunning, but way to convince people to buy multiple editions of the same book. I literally needed all of these, and ordered (and now own) all eight. Less crazy collectors than I are sure to at least have their house’s edition in HC, PB, or both. They look SO GOOD on my shelf, and I literally cannot wait to have them all. Am I nuts to be excited at the prospect of having EIGHT sets, one for each house in both HC and PB, once these editions are all released? Probably, but I don’t even care! They are awesome!
i’ll always be so mad that they changed the title name lmao philosophers stone sounds so cool and I love the original just because I grew up with it but the illustrated is just so so fun

The original US hardcover is the version that I own, so I’m very partial to that one, lol!

I’m not even into Harry Potter and don’t really have any plans to read them, but even I’ll admit the 15th anniversary and the last two editions on your list are really cool. XD

LOVE the elegant looks of the ebook/audiobook and signature edition. I’ve been fawning over the illustrated edition covers these past few months though. GORGEOUS. I think my favorite cover would be the 2014 UK editions. I love fun look of the illustrations and the series together is ugh beaut *heart eyes, grabby hands*
