This week’s Six for Sunday prompt is Books with Blue Covers! I, for one, am super excited for this because blue is my favorite color and therefore some of my very favorite books are blue! Amanda and I brainstormed this one together and came up with what we think are the Six Best Blue Covers Ever. Enjoy 😉
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor – UK Edition
Megan: This is still one of my very favorite book covers of any that I have on my shelf. I don’t know why it appeals to me so strongly, but there is no denying it is gorgeous!
The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around – and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old he’s been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Amanda: This cover is just so compelling and it makes you want to know more.

Megan: TDA is my favorite of the Shadowhunter series, and this cover is my second favorite of the many many books (second only to the not-yet-released Chain of Gold). It’s even more stunning in real life, since it has a slightly metallic sheen to it. SO many heart eyes.

Amanda: This cover is just the perfect shade of blue. I first read it when I was 16 and it’s still my favorite dragon book!

Megan: This cover is as stunning as the story inside it! I actually did a full review recently, so feel free to check that out too!

Amanda: This cover is just beautifully designed and I just wanna look at it all the time.
When the patriarch of the Ballenger empire dies, his son, Jase, becomes its new leader. Even nearby kingdoms bow to the strength of this outlaw family, who have always governed by their own rules. But a new era looms on the horizon, set in motion by a young queen, which makes her the target of the dynasty’s resentment and anger.
At the same time, Kazi, a legendary former street thief, is sent by the queen to investigate transgressions against the new settlements. Obviously we can’t possibly have a list without an HP book, so we are including the original US edition of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!
OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE SPOILERS: There is a door at the end of a silent corridor. And it’s haunting Harry Pottter’s dreams. Why else would he be waking in the middle of the night, screaming in terror?
Harry has a lot on his mind for this, his fifth year at Hogwarts: a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher with a personality like poisoned honey; a big surprise on the Gryffindor Quidditch team; and the looming terror of the Ordinary Wizarding Level exams. But all these things pale next to the growing threat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named—a threat that neither the magical government nor the authorities at Hogwarts can stop.
As the grasp of darkness tightens, Harry must discover the true depth and strength of his friends, the importance of boundless loyalty, and the shocking price of unbearable sacrifice. His fate depends on them all.
